Answer this once you have actually sent the letter, and leave it blank until then. The agency's twenty-business-day clock is counted from this date, so a date you have not reached yet would give you a deadline that is not real.

If your browser does not offer you a calendar, write the year first, then the month, then the day, like 2026-03-15.

Has the agency answered you yet?

This changes what you can do next. If nothing has arrived, the next step is to ask the office where your request stands. If something arrived and it went against you in any way, you can appeal it, and the letter you were sent says by when.
